Mariachi Capistrano

Mariachi Capistrano is the first youth mariachi group to arise from the Capistrano Community Mariachi Program (CCMP).  The group initiated in June, 2009 and performs throughout Orange County and L.A. County.  
Examples of recent performances include:  the Star Installation of Louis Prima Celebration at the Ricardo Montalban Theatre in Hollywood, Laguna Beach Fete de la Musique, Orange County Fair, Orange Street Fair, Irvine-Walk for the Cure (Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation), Relay for Cancer (San Juan Capistrano and Dana Point), Fiestas Patrias de Santa Ana, and Dia Del Nino by CREER.
Mariachi Capistrano attends yearly conferences to La Frontera International Mariachi Conference in Tucson, Arizona and the Mexican Heritage Mariachi Festival in San Jose, California. This group also attends special workshops hosted by CCMP every summer.
Mariachi Capistrano performs annually at the signature event at the Mission San Juan Capistrano, “The Battle of the Mariachi.” They also perform regularly at The Old Mission San Juan Capistrano and at Ricardo’s Place Restaurant.

Mariachi Corazon

Mariachi Corazón de Capistrano is CCMP’s second performing mariachi ensemble.  It was formed in April of 2010 with students ranging in ages 10-14 years old.  Some of the group’s  accomplishments include performances at the 911 Commemoration Event in San Juan Capistrano, the Orange County Fair Grounds, Grand Central Arts Festival in Santa Ana, Noche de Altares Hosted by El Centro Cultural in Santa Ana, and El Dia de Los Muertos hosted by the San Juan Capistrano Regional Library. 
The group is introduced to new styles that are characteristic of mariachi music such as the son jaliciensebolero, and ranchera songs.  Some of their favorites include "El Herradero" and "El Caporal."
Mariachi Corazon de Capistrano attended their first CCMP Summer Workshop where they had the privilege of receiving instruction from Nati Cano de Mariachi Los Camperos. The group is currently receiving instruction from CCMP's Special Guest Artist, Juan Manuel Cortez.

Mariachi Los Capistranitos

Mariachi Los Capistranitos is CCMP’s youngest mariachi performing group comprised of students ranging in ages 5 -12 years old.   The focus of this beautiful elementary ensemble is to provide students with the building blocks of music, including scales, mariachi exercises, vocal technique, and performance etiquette.  Their repertoire includes some of the favorites such as Cielito Lindo, Las Mañanitas, and Los Laureles.
